Venom's Start to Modeling
9:21 AMOkay, so as you can see, I'm pretty new at this, but I am hoping this will be the beginning of a beautiful friendship of blogging fun. For my first blog post I'd like to mention my true start with modeling and where I am now.
It all started back in 2009 when I was still basically a newbie within SL. I was working as a hostess in a club when one of the owners started up a model competition. It looked like fun, so I thought, hey, why not give it a try and see how I do? And so began the start of my love for fashion and styling. Now, keep in mind this was several years ago now, and I don't remember all the details of every challenge, or even what the challenge was that resulted in this picture below, BUT I still am proud of how it turned out. This is just a raw snapshot taken within SL as was required for the challenge, NO EDITING! Unfortunately it was ruled too scary, but hey, I was new and this was a FUN shot for me to do!
Several years went by, and I continued to enjoy styling within SL, but I didn't pursue modeling any further. At least until I heard one of my favorite stores (Kastle Rock Couture) was hiring CSR's. Truth be told, I was reluctant to apply thinking I didn't have the experience to get hired and do the job, but I was talked into it and I'm so very glad I tried! I got hired the weekend of the 20th of September in 2012 and absolutely LOVED it! I loved it so much in fact that I worked extra shifts to help out and accidentally became the Assistant Manager (and yes it really was an accident, LOL) but I'm glad because I love that job title too!
So, now we're a bit closer to the present day, where I decided to look into modeling schools. I asked around, gathered notecards and information for several different schools, until I was given a notecard about an audition for a full scholarship to One on One Modeling Academy. I saw that it was 2 days away and I leaped at the chance to try out. I contacted the organizer and was allowed into the line up, so I immediately started working on the stylings for the audition show. It took me the whole 2 days trying to get the outfits together but with the help of someone very special to me, I got it done in time! Now of course you can imagine, I was a basket case of nerves! BUT I pushed through them and did my 2 walks on the runway, hoping I would impress the judges. When it came time to hear what the judges decided... OMG I was panicking! Would I get it? Would I not? Back and forth all through my mind so much it felt like my brain was a tennis court filled with nerves! We learned that there was to be 3 scholarships granted that day, and two names were called before mine, and of course this didn't help my nerves any! LOL, and then finally, they called out Venom Zanzibar for the 3rd scholarship and I had to reread my name a few times to believe I'd actually gotten one! The 3 scholarship winners then got a picture together at the end of the runway to be featured in the next issue of ModeLS Magazine with an interview from each of us. Here's the link to view the magazine ~~~> http://issuu.com/rboniefacio/docs/modelsissue16 and I'm SO excited about being in it!
Ok I've gone on enough for now, I'll list pictures and stylings of my audition outfits in a future post! So keep an eye out for that! *Smiles*
