Yes, I'm still playing catch up, BUT after this post I'm up to current and 'just because I feel like it' posts. LOL. This show was so much fun! It made me feel sexy and the opening and ending number were so much fun to do! We had CHER singing while we danced around her in the opening number! THAT was fun! YAY! I made it to the final! For the styling part of the final test, we were asked to style a Business Casual outfit. We were not allowed to use 'out the box' outfits either, so I was googling, and raiding inventory, and shopping for a few days before my outfit was complete. In the end, I was very pleased with out well it all came together! Nothing worn is from the same store, even though the skirt and blazer look like a matched set. YAY! Mission accomplished! While there were other parts to the final, I ended up passing with a 194 out of 200, and 150 minimum was needed to pass! YAY! I DID IT! Style details and picture below! *Smiles big*

For this assignment, we were able to do pretty much whatever we wanted styling wise, it was the posing that was important here. So I was doing a little shopping at events and such like Shiny Shabby and Cosmopolitan and this outfit came together very cute I think! It's kind of Summery, with a hint of country to it. This assignment was kind of interesting. The teachers went over several different genres in fashion and gave examples even of each genre and a history and description of each. For the assignment, each student was given a genre to do research on and then style an outfit for. For mine, I got Haute Couture.

For the first part of the assignment, we were told to write a paragraph about our selected genre. Below is what I did for this part with links to where I found the info.

Haute Couture originates from Paris, meaning high sewing, high dressmaking or high fashion. Haute Couture items are hand crafted from start to finish using very high quality, expensive and often bold or unusual fabrics with extreme attention to detail by experienced sewers. The time and money that goes into each item often makes the phrase 'money has no value' relevant. It's often created for specific clients since it's also often form fitting needing the clients exact measurements to craft it.

For the next part, we had to style an outfit showing off the genre and write about why we chose each piece. So I'll put what I wrote for mine, and then the picture and style card below. *Smiles*

I chose this dress, because I saw it by chance browsing on the marketplace, and the color, pattern, and back really made me go "oooh" and I was unable to get it out of my head after that. I thought it would work well for the assignment since it has the intricate pattern and is form fitting and is very elegant and beautiful.
I went simple on the shoes because I didn't want them to distract from the dress very much, and thought that the cute little maryjane pumps were perfect, subtle and elegant, and not too extravagant.
The jewelry i thought would make  a nice touch, also not overly extravagant, but very elegant and pretty, I was able to play with the colors til I found a suitable color combo to add to the dress, but not take away from it.
For the makeup, I saw the eyeshadow at a sale and had to get it, and thought it dressed up and brought my face into the dress too.
The nails I thought would be a good match also with the blue and silver deco.
I chose an updo bun to show off the delicate cut on the back of the dress.

For the second class of week 2, we were to present an outfit showing color blocking. It was a bit of a challenge for me, I had never really color blocked before, but I really LOVED how the outfit came together in the end! I've actually been wearing it a lot since this class too! It's so interesting how 'not' matching colors when put together can look so neat. Ok, here comes the first of several posts about my experience with SMA's (Superior Modeling Agency) school.
I was reluctant to enroll in another school, but I'm very glad I did! This school is reinforcing and rounding out my previous education and I totally love all the teachers!
For week 1, we had an assignment to choose a style icon, any style icon, write a paragraph about this person and why their style is an inspiration to you, and then style an outfit based on said person. For my person, I chose Lucy Hale, even though I almost chose Avril Lavigne. I ended up choosing Lucy, because she was the first person that came to mind when I was thinking about the assignment, so I went with what my first instinct was. Well, I'll just paste the paragraph I wrote below about it with the example picture. *Smiles*

I was going back and forth between Avril Lavigne and Lucy Hale for a bit, but I was thinking about Lucy Hale as soon as I read the assignment, so I chose her going with my first instinct. Every time I see her in a movie, show or at an event, she has fabulous style. She's girly, but with a little edge. It doesn't matter if she's dressed casual or formal, she's always beautiful. She inspires me to take a little more risk in my stylings.


Now for the second part of the assignment... the styling challenge! While I was looking at pictures of Lucy Hale, I saw this one and thought she looked SO cute, and I was in a kind of Spring/Summer mood at the time, so I chose it to base my outfit on, Below is the picture of Lucy Hale, and then the outfit I styled based on her with my style card.
